Most Mac users still think their Mac is immune to malware attacks, but let me tell you it isn’t the case. Certainly, when compared with Windows, Mac is more secure but not invulnerable. Yes, you read it right. Mac machines are no longer under the radar – they can be attacked. This means you need to install the best antivirus tool.

But, since Mac’s attack surface is small, installing an app that offers malware protection, junk cleaning, or duplicate removal is the best solution.

Understanding this, we began looking for an optimization tool that offers all of this. And that was when we came across MacKeeper – a cleaning utility that includes a host of privacy, performance, and security features.

Well, at first, I was skeptical about it, but the way this app worked surprised me. It brought a significant boost to Mac’s performance and was able to clean infections in no time. It is a decent tool to use. So, I decided to do an in-depth review, and here’s what I found about MacKeeper.

What is MacKeeper?

Offered by Clario Tech Limited, MacKeeper is a complete system tweaking app for Mac. It provides multi-layered protection from malware, online threats, identity theft alongside improving Mac performance. Moreover, it can boost the browsing speed, get rid of unwanted login items, duplicates, and more. Notarized by Apple and approved by AppEsteem, this Mac cleanup utility is secure to use. So, if you have any doubts about the app due to the company’s history, keep them aside and try using MacKeeper.

How MacKeeper Helps Secure and Boost Performance?

By offering different security tools, MacKeeper helps protect against the worst online threats, malware, adware, and more. In addition to this, the tool hunts down online threats, looks for your Mac if it gets stolen, and that’s just a small part. To know more in detail, let’s see what MacKeeper has to offer.

Features:

– VPN Private Connect – secures Mac from lurking threats when you connect to public Wi-Fi.

MacKeeper’s integrated VPN makes MacKeeper standout. Unlike its competitors, it helps users browse securely. Using VPN Private Connect, when connecting to public Wi-Fi, users can keep their private information secure.

Enabling or disabling Private Connect is very easy. You can either select the option to automatically connect every time you boot your Mac or disable it manually. When connected, you can hide your IP address and protect browsing history from ISPs and online trackers.

Nonetheless, all MacKeeper plans come with unlimited VPN access. This means you don’t have to worry about data limits when using a VPN while streaming movies or accessing public Wi-Fi.

– StopAd – blocks annoying ads and advertisers from tracking you online.

As the name explains, StopAd blocks both ads and trackers from following your digital footprints. It works as a browser extension. To install it, you just need to click the StopAd tab and click Enable. This would help browse faster too.

– ID Theft Guard – protects you and your family from Identity Theft and alerts you every time your data has been leaked in any data breach.

Stay protected from identity theft using the ID Theft Guard. This feature helps detect whether your email addresses have been compromised or not. To check, simply enter your email address and run a scan. If exposed to a data breach, MacKeeper will inform you and will help stay protected.

– Safe Cleanup – cleans junk files & keeps your Mac optimized like a new machine.

This is the most looked upon feature. Using it in just one click and a user can get rid of junk files, Trash Bin items, cache, old mail attachments, unwanted language packs, and more. You can recover gigabytes of storage space that was occupied by unwanted items in no time.

Safe Cleanup proves beneficial when faced with a lagging Mac or encounters not enough storage space message on Mac.

Duplicates Finder – hunts duplicate files and helps remove them, thereby saving disk space and preventing you from spending unnecessarily on new storage space.

This feature scans your Mac for duplicate images taking unnecessary space. Depending on the size of the disk, the scan takes time. In my case, it took around 15 minutes and listed so many files that I never had an idea they existed on my Mac.

Once the scan is finished, by clicking Remove Duplicates, you can get rid of duplicate files.

Smart Uninstaller – offers a safe and secure way to delete all those app leftovers that are scattered throughout your Mac. It even finds widgets, plugins, and browser extensions.

This feature scans your Mac for all of the installed apps and helps you decide which ones are unwanted.

The initial scan was completed in just 2 minutes, and it found so many leftovers that I was surprised. It also highlighted browser extensions, Preference Pane, etc.

Memory Cleaner – helps free up Mac RAM in real-time, thereby boosting processing speed.

Memory Cleaner gives information about RAM usage allowing you to free up RAM consumed by unwanted apps. This helps boost performance and recover wasted RAM.

To recover RAM, simply hit the CLEAN MEMORY button and reduce the amount of occupied memory without restarting Mac.

Antivirus – helps scan the system and stay secure from malicious files or malware.

This feature lets you secure your Mac in real-time. The scan is very effective and fast. To enable real-time protection, you will need to click the Enable button and grant full disk access.

The Antivirus can easily remove all existing and latest threats off your Mac.

Other Features:

24/7 Support – offers best-in-class technical assistance so that none of MacKeeper’s users face any problem using the app.

Login Items – lets you decide which apps you want to load at boot time so that you can have a quick Mac startup.

Update Tracker – never miss a patch or update. MacKeeper checks all the installed apps for available patches, updates, and upgrades.

Adware Cleaner – detects adware threats that slow down browsing.

MacKeeper Plans & Pricing

MacKeeper offers a monthly plan for a single Mac and annual plans for a single and 3 Mac. The pricing starts at $14.95/monthly.

When compared with others, the pricing is a bit on the higher side. But looking at MacKeeper’s features, it’s okay because it saves users from spending on other tools.

Not only this, but it also offers a 14-day money-back guarantee on plans. This means if you don’t like the product within 14 days of purchase can reclaim your money.

All of this makes MacKeeper an amazing product and a great deal. My verdict: MacKeeper is an excellent tool offering a decent range of cybersecurity features. Using its various tools like Antivirus, ID Theft Guard, VPN, Adware Cleaner, StopAd, and more, you can secure and optimize your Mac. So, by paying the price for a security tool, you get a complete optimization suite too.  What are you still waiting for?
